On Sunday Russian neo-Nazi group BTO emailed a death threat to Galina Kozhevnikova, the deputy head of human rights research centre SOVA. The group threatened to murder a number of journalists and intellectuals in the next year and told Kozhevnikova to ‘prepare’ to be next in line, referring to the recent murder of a journalist and a lawyer in Moscow.
The email attacked journalists, editors, experts, and university professors who cover anti-extremism. Russian neo-Nazis maintain websites and blogs that brand journalists and human rights activists, including Kozhevnikova, as enemies of the state.
