The Attorney General, Baroness Scotland QC, has announced that she has referred the case of UK resident Binyam Mohammed to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The ex-Guantanamo detainee claims that an MI5 agent, known as ‘witness B’, was complicit in his torture and prolonged his detention in Morocco in 2002. He also states that British intelligence supplied questions to the local officers in Morocco, who mistreated him. The agent denies the allegations. It is the first time the police have been asked to investigate MI5.
