A journalist was shot dead in Algeciras as Colombia celebrated the national Day of the Journalist.
Manuel Arturo MacĂas Cerrera was shot in the head on his way home, and died shortly afterwards. As well as working as a reporter on a daily news radio show, he also served as the only opposition councillor in the town. It is not clear yet who was responsible for the attack, but the head of a Colombian journalist’s association described it as a “death message” sent by “the intolerant”.
