An Afghan magazine editor has been detained in Iran and continues to be held without charge. Ali Muhahiq Nasab, editor of the monthly Haqoq-e-Zan (Women’s Rights), was apparently detained by Iranian officials on 4 March in Qumm, near Tehran.

Documents and his computer were confiscated from his home. Nasab, a prominent activist for women’s rights, previously spent time in jail in Afghanistan after being convicted of blasphemy in 2005 for publishing stories criticising harsh punishments handed down for adultery and theft.
