The Jordanian ministry of the interior has announced increased restrictions on Internet cafés, which are widespread in the country’s cities.
Internet café owners will be obliged to install cameras for the purpose of identifying customers. They will also be required to register users’ personal information as well as data on the websites explored by the users. The new policy will also put in place censorship programmes to prevent access to websites containing pornographic or ‘offensive’ material.
