Science writer Simon Singh has been refused leave to appeal Mr Justice Eady’s decision on meaning in Singh’s legal battle with the British Chiropractic Association (BCA).

Singh is being sued for defamation by the BCA after he wrote an article for the Guardian questioning chiropractic’s usefulness in treating childhood ilnesses.

In an earlier hearing, Mr Justice Eady took Singh’s use of the word “bogus” in describing chiropractic treatments as implying that the BCA deliberately offered remedies they knew to be false. Singh disputes this interpretation.

The refusal may mean that Singh will be allowed to make an “oral renewal” at the Court of Appeal.
