The National Union of Somali Journalists is an association that promotes and protects freedom of the press and the interests of journalists in Somalia. NUSOJ systematically monitors and conducts investigations into violations of press freedom and human rights of journalists. It generates and rallies a national and global community of press freedom defenders to take effective action against press freedom violations.

queer_up_northWriter and Index on Censorship trustee Kenan Malik joins feminist writer Julie Bindel and Index on Censorship news editor Padraig Reidy at Queer Up North Festival in Manchester on Saturday 16 May. The pair will be taking part in a panel debate chaired by Christoper Cook. The debate entitled: “You can’t say that! –– The culture of offence” takes place at Friends Meeting House, 12.30pm – 1.50pm.
