Afghan journalist, Noorjahan Bahir from a prominent independent radio station in the province of Khost has been arrested by American soldiers. Local journalists demanding the release of Mr Bahir have said they will stop reporting news relating to the US military or Afghan government. Read more here

Manchester film maker, David Whitney, has fled Pakistan after being attacked. Whitney had been shooting a film about Taliban rule in Afghanistan when his team was shot at just outside Quetta, near the Afghan border. The crew escaped without serious injury, but left the country immediately.
