Twoal-Jazeera reporters were prevented from covering a demonstration in the West Bank on Friday by the Israeli military. They were detained for four and a half hours before being released and told to never return. Cameraman Majdi Bannoura and assistant Nader Abu Zer were arrested trying to videotape the weekly protests on the separation barrier being erected in Bil’in by Israel.
The Palestinian intelligence service have arrested freelance journalist Mustafa Sabri in Qalqilya city north of the West Bank having only been released from preventative security prison a few days before. He has been arrested and interrogated many times without being charged. Read more here
Al-Jazeera has resumed its broadcasts in the West Bank, after a ban on it was lifted by the Palestinian Authority. Last week’s ban came after a guest on the station accused Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas of collaborating with Israel to have Yasser Arafat killed. Read more here
Palestinian Authority security officials have seized and erased video footage shot by news service Al Jazeera on the outskirts of the West Bank city of Hebron. The erased footage dealt with a prisoners death in a Hebron detention centre and alleged torture. Read more here
